  • 8 to 12 weeks before the exam. Enough time to revisit all major topics, work through past papers, and fix the mistakes that keep appearing before they appear in the real exam.
  • After school-based Add Maths revision. When the student has covered the syllabus in school but cannot yet produce complete, correctly structured exam working independently.

Priority topics

Which IGCSE Add Maths topics to revise first

Not all 0606 topics carry equal weight in the exam. Intensive revision time is most effective when allocated to the topics that appear most frequently and carry the most marks across Paper 1 and Paper 2.

  • Calculus (differentiation and integration). Typically 20 to 30 marks per paper. Integration questions in particular require practised method - errors in the constant of integration and definite integral bounds are the most common mark losses.
  • Trigonometry. 15 to 20 marks per paper. Identities, solving equations in given intervals, and proving identities are the three recurring question types. Each has a specific method that must be automatic under exam conditions.
  • Logarithms and exponentials. 10 to 15 marks per paper. Students often know the log laws but cannot apply them under time pressure without errors. Practising the "reduce to quadratic" question type is essential.

  • Binomial expansion. 6 to 10 marks per paper. The term formula and coefficient questions are predictable and fully learnable within a few focused sessions.
