Online IGCSE Maths and Add Maths — Method-First Teaching for Year 7–11

MathPert Education provides online Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580) and Additional Mathematics (0606) tuition for students in Year 7 to Year 11 across Malaysia. Classes are taught live by Teacher Au via Zoom.

The approach is method-first. Most students who struggle in IGCSE Maths do not have a strategy gap — they have a method gap. They can follow a worked example but freeze when an exam question looks slightly different, because they memorised steps rather than understood the reasoning behind them. MathPert addresses this directly: every lesson focuses on building the student's understanding of the method, so they can apply it to unseen questions on their own.

Group classes are kept small — a maximum of 8 students — so Teacher Au can call on each student, check working in real time, and address the specific errors that individual students make. Students are expected to participate, not just listen. This interactive structure is what separates method-first learning from passive watching.

Classes follow the Malaysian school calendar (January to December). The curriculum covers the full Cambridge IGCSE syllabus for both Mathematics and Additional Mathematics, with particular attention to algebraic structure, working steps, exam layout, and the hidden foundation gaps that cause recurring careless mistakes.

One-to-one sessions are available subject to Teacher Au's schedule, for students who need a more tailored pace or whose exam timing does not align with the group intake cycle.

What year groups does MathPert teach?
MathPert teaches IGCSE Mathematics and Additional Mathematics for students in Year 7 to Year 11. Both group and one-to-one formats are available depending on the student's level and schedule.
How large are the group classes?
Group classes are capped at 8 students. This keeps the class small enough for Teacher Au to check each student's working, ask individual questions, and identify specific errors rather than teaching to the middle of a large group.
My child's school follows the UK academic calendar. Can they still join?
MathPert follows the Malaysian school calendar (January to December). If your child's school runs on the UK or August intake calendar, the next clean group entry point is January. Teacher Au can discuss whether a one-to-one arrangement would suit an off-cycle student in the meantime.
What is the difference between IGCSE Mathematics and Additional Mathematics?
IGCSE Mathematics (0580) is the core exam and covers algebra, geometry, statistics, and number at a level most students take in Year 10–11. Additional Mathematics (0606) goes deeper — it introduces calculus, trigonometric identities, and harder algebraic topics. Add Maths is a separate Cambridge qualification, often taken by students aiming for A-Level science or engineering pathways.
